Singing is joyful and always fun
A good choir should always improve your day and be a highlight of your week. Citrus Singers delivers this promise and more, we want you to want more and enjoy every minute of singing, no matter what level of ability you are. We are a fully diverse choir with groups of people from all walks of life, all ages and all abilities.
Joining a choir for the first time or a new choir is daunting for many people, but if your brave enough to make that first step, the journey will be so worth while. Yes, there will be new songs to learn and old songs to listen to, but being part of our choir community will be a great experience for you. You will make new friends and social opportunities and also be part of something that gives joy to other people.
“I want people in my choir who just love to sing, it’s my job to make them and everyone else in the choir sing well and understand the music and direction”
Tim Dowland Choir Master.
People always say, I’d love to join, but I can’t sing, Well you can, if you like singing you can probably hold a tune and sing in tune. We embrace this, put you in the right place within the choir, with the right people and help around you, mentor you and help get the best from your voice.
We believe that performing and showing your craft is important, we always perform for charity. Our chosen Charity for is Forest Holme, we are in our 2nd year of a 5 year fundraising programme for this amazing charity, but we also sing at other events and charities including, RNLI, Saturday Friends, Poole Food Hub. We don’t expect everyone to perform as singing in front of an audience is not everyone's cup of tea.
When joining Citrus Singers the first session is free. We will give you some temporary words and a choir ambassador will look after you and help you through the session. After the first initial month we ask members to commit to the £30 per month (48 sessions per year). Your choir journey will start.

What happens in each session:
-
We always start with a quick warm up. (for this you will be given a straw and we do some breathing and vocal exercises)
-
We then normal do an acoustic song after the warm up.
-
We are always working on new songs as part of the session, but also go over a few of the old songs to refresh and keep choir members remembering what we have learn’t.
-
Each session moves quickly and we spend no more than 20 minutes on a new song, you will sing between 10 to 15 songs per session. This keeps people excited about what’s coming next.
